An Education Gives You Wings

March 1, 2011 5 Comments »
“According to a recent study done by Diplomas Count 2009, the high school graduation rate for Hispanic students is 55 percent compared to 63 percent for their non-Hispanic peers.”

One of the most important factors in a child’s academic performance is parental involvement. Parental engagement, guidance and encouragement is as important as an air traffic controller to a pilot.  One without the other would only lessen the chances of reaching the planned destination, accurately and on time.

When LATISM presented me with the opportunity to speak a bit about “Es El Momento” (EEM) campaign I was inspired.  Why not inform The Digital Latina readers and parents with this wonderful campaign geared towards Hispanic families that branches the tools parents need to guide their children in the right direction.

Don’t let your child be a statistic. Grab a hold of your  child’s academic career and take use of the resources around you, whether it be taking part in your child’s P.T.A. or seeking advice about saving for college tuition from  a college adviser or counselor.  Our children deserve a higher education and every opportunity possible.

If you seek, you shall find. Hispanic parents and caregivers across the country have the need to be properly informed of the preparation and requirements that colleges look for in young people but many families aren’t aware that regardless of the economic state their in, there are resources a parent can tap into to finance their child’s tuition and fire up that young persons future.  Whether the financial help derives from a grant, loan or scholarship, college tuition is not impossible to get.  Seeking out what your federal, state or private institutions provide to your families income bracket can work wonders.  But many parents are unaware of such resources.

Es El Momento is a comprehensive initiative aimed to improve the academic success of young children across the nation.  Es El Momento teamed up with multimedia campaigns across all Univision platforms to inspire and motivate parents to take an active role in their children’s lives and consequently change their future academic accomplishments.  Es El Momento communicates to Hispanic families around the country and help parents and caregivers understand the importance of parental engagement in their child’s life and assist in helping make those dreams come true.

If we, as parents or guardians, aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers, instill in our children the importance of an education – there are no limits as to what a child can do; no limit as to where they can go.

An education gives you wings. Young aspiring and curious minds strive in finding encouragement and motivation and to be a part of something.  Wouldn’t you want your child to soar through a successful future?  Well, “Es El Momento” (the time is now) to grab all the information you need to start the process of making an immense impact on your child’s life.

child academic performance is more important factor because it can calculate all the activity in all year by year.and according to my view all the parents can see their academic performance.

Without a doubt, as Rachel states education gives you wings to fly I totally agree. I think its important to say that don’t let financial reasons stop you from getting higher education. There’s always help such as grants, scholarships etc. Thanks for a very inspiring post.
