School started a couple of weeks ago and that also meant a new season with our Girl Scouts group began! My daughter is officially a Junior! She was a brownie scout last year and it was a life changing experience not only for her but for me too. There are so many benefits of joining the Girl Scouts. It teaches our girls confidence, leadership skills, and the importance of community service. The Girl Scouts prepares our girls for the real world.
This is a very important week for the Girl Scouts. Our First Lady Michelle Obama is our Honarary National President. The First Lady taped a video highlighting the importance of volunteering for Girl Scouts. The Girl Scouts very own CEO, fellow Latina, Anna Maria Chávez, encourages us to take part in this initiative because it’s an exceptional honor for the Girl Scouts movement and we need all of YOU to play a part by simply doing the following:
- share the video on your Facebook page with all your friends and family
- tweet the link on your Twitter feed with the hashtag #icantwaitto, and
- tell everyone you know to view the video on www.girlscouts.org
What The #ICantWaitTo Campaign Is All About:
As some of you may already know, the campaign focuses on that can-hardly-sleep-because-you’re-waiting-for-the-next-day feeling. The campaign is designed to show girls and adults that with the Girl Scouts, they’ll have tons of fun and always have something to be excited about. And we’re excited about making a bunch of new friends and having more volunteers be the role models they’ll always remember. So please, tell everyone you know about Girl Scouts, the First Lady’s video, and the new experiences they can have with the Girl Scouts.
There is already an Associated Press story about the campaign and you can read about it on the Washington Post website here, and the nationally syndicated television show The Daily Buzz has done a segment with a volunteer and two Girl Scouts that is airing across the country. You can view the segment online.
Bloggers Share Their Stories:
The Girl Scouts are also working with a network of bloggers who reach millions of mothers and women, and they will be blogging about the “I can’t wait to…” campaign throughout the week to amplify the key message. Read the first blog post here. And that’s just the beginning. The Girl Scouts expect even more media coverage, including an article in Forbes magazine.
We can’t do this without your help. Let’s keep the momentum going!
This is going to be a great year for the Girl Scouts Movement and I want to thank you for everything you do for us!
