In preparation for the 100th Anniversary Bridge Crossing Celebration and event at Randall’s Island tomorrow, our amazing Girl Scout Troop Leader, Maribeth, inspired me to create some bleach pen designs on our t-shirts. Bleach designs wake up a regular t-shirt and transform it into a bright and fun shirt. Although it was my first time using a bleach pen, I was able to control the amount of bleach that came out. I’ve seen people use different techniques but my basic approach worked fine.
The key is to make sure to place a peace of wax paper or cardboard or plastic bag inside the shirt so that the bleach doesn’t bleed from one side to the other.
Be creative and have fun! *
Things you’ll need:
1. Bleach pen
3. A piece of cardboard, wax paper or a plastic bag.
4. A clean work space far away from furniture or other things that can get stained.

* Note – When handling bleach, be aware that it can stain or ruin your clothing. Wear something you would not mind getting stained.
