Earlier this week, I shared with you some of the steps I take to feel beautiful both inside and out.  But what do you do when a beauty disaster finds its way to you?  Below are some of my very own tips and tricks to prevent beauty blunders.

Prevention is key

Always try on whatever hot item you are going to purchase. I personally hate trying on clothes/shoes at the store but you never know how it will look until you try it on. When it comes to shoes, especially heels, trying them on before you buy them could avoid a blister. Just like clothing, shoe sizes run big and small. Simply trying on will save you unwanted discomfort.

Leave the past in the past

So your heels have you walking like a pre-historic T-Rex?  No worries. A handy dandy pair of emergency flats, the ones that roll up and fit in your clutch, will help save the day and your smile.  Some are fashionable enough to even match your outfit.  Nevertheless, they help get where you have to go comfortably. Unless you have a handsome prince to carry you around, this tip can get you places – literally!

Santa’s NOT looking for a new reindeer

You wake up one morning and see a blemish. Of course, you’re probably facing this dilemma on none other than a very important day but don’t fret just yet. Don’t try to pop it! That’s eww and could only make things worse. Grab a piece of ice and gently place it on the affected area for a few minutes. Dab dry. Add some some green concealer to hide any redness.  A  dab of your foundation and a touch of face powder will give you a flawless finish. You’re safe to go out into the world. ;-)

What’s that smell?

You forgot to put on deodorant? It happens to me more times than I would like. With a gazillion things to do in the morning, it’s almost inevitable. My tip is to keep a stash of emergency grooming items at work or school. My emergency beauty kit includes:

  • deodorant
  • toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouth wash
  • nail polish remover & clear tone polish
  • body splash/perfume
  • lotion/creme (believe it or not, it’s multi-purpose)
  • mini sewing kit (my sewing skills rock!)
  • hairspray
  • lip gloss
  • mini umbrella (cause you don’t want to be caught in the rain)

The only thing missing is duck tape but you will survive many beauty disaster with the items shown above.  Believe me.

Drunk as a skunk? Who you? No way!

Your girlfriends invite you to your favorite happy hour spot.  First thing is to make sure you eat before you drink.  Save yourself the nasty hangover, by simply setting a limit and sticking to it!  Drinking responsibly is not only smart but sexy too.  Remember to sip slowly.  Savor the drink as well as the moment.  Replenish with plenty of water during and after the festivities and get plenty of rest.  You should show no signs of Thirsty Thursday on Friday.

I LOVE your trick for unwanted pimples. Had never thought of putting ice, always go for popping it, which you’re right, only makes it worse!
