You know there’s something about the summer that says – COLOR!
The blacks and the grays in your closet are put away and there is room for the good stuff. I simply adore colorful pieces in my wardrobe, whether it’s a bright jacket or a neon wrist watch or a skinny belt that pops, you better believe that a splash of color will pull your look together. Color just rocks!
Professional stylist and frequent guest of The Today Show, Bobbi Thomas encourages you to find your favorite blueberry, raspberry or pink and soon your favorite summer berries will be everywhere: farmers markets, local grocers and of course, in your own kitchen. But you don’t have to wait to get your berry fix.
McDonald’s is introducing two berry delicious products in May: Blueberry Banana Nut Oatmeal and McCafe Cherry Berry Chiller. And don’t forget, there’s more than one way to celebrate berry season.
Check out some of my favorite feel-good tips to make berries a part of your home and your look. Sound good? Here goes:
Berry Beauty – Put your berry best face forward with a slick of bright berry colored lipstick or a brush of blue (especially for brown eyes) or purple eye shadow. Just don’t go crazy with it. A little goes a long way.
Creatively Chill – Give summer drinks a fun burst of berry. Yum! Pop a berry and water in an ice cube tray and freeze. When it’s time to entertain, pop out a berry clever cube to adorn your drink and amaze your friends. Easy to do and it looks so pretty!
Stay Soft – Smooth skin is a must-have summer accessory. Use berries to make your own body scrub. Mix 8 strawberries, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt into a paste, and massage into skin. Not only will your skin feel smooth and refreshed, the paste smells delicious too.
Tempting Tips and Toes – Nails are not the place to play it safe this summer. Celebrity manicurist Lisa Logan recommends making a statement with strawberry pinks, tart cranberry-raspberry reds and bold blueberry blues.Need I say that your tan will look even better with these colors on your tips and toes?
Top O’ Morning – Even if you are on-the-go, you can begin your day the berry way with McDonald’s new Blueberry Banana Nut Oatmeal. It’s made to order with crunchy, permium walnuts, a tasty hint of real banana, two servings of whole grain, and fruit blueberries. It’s delicious and healthy too (under 300 calories).
It’s a Wrap: Bright berry colors are totally “in” this summer. Vibrant reds, blues, purples all work together so feel free to mix and match and layer it on.
