Imagine living in a time where your country didn’t want to hear what you had to say? By not casting your vote, you may as well be in such a place. I remember the first time I voted. I felt like a part of my country’s future.
Whether you believe it or not, your opinion, your voice matters. The future of this country depends on our vote. If you don’t like something, YOU have the power to change it and vise versa. I know a lot of people who complain but don’t speak up. The sad reality is that of the approximately 22 million Latinos who are eligible to vote, over 10 million has not registered. The US Census Bureau Current Population Survey, Voting and Registration in 2010 showed a significant national decline in Latino voter registration in 2009-2010.
This downward trend should be a pressing concern for all of us, as participating in the elections has a direct impact on our lives, our local communities, the country… and the future of democracy.
Show your country that you care and cast your votes this coming election.
