Let me begin by saying that my husband and I were able to enjoy a wonderful evening out thanks to PLAYTIME. PLAYTIME is a child care service provided by professional artists who happen to know a lot about children. Call them “arti-sitters”. This wonderful program engages your child in performing arts, song, and dance for a very affordable rate. For only $15 per child, you and your child can enjoy an unforgettable evening at the theatre.
My daughter absolutely adores spending time with the arti-sitters! All I have to say is the word and she’s up and ready to spend an hour or two with this wonderful group of sitters. Parents like myself really appreciate a program that puts families like mine first.
I must start off by saying this wasn’t an easy post to write. To this day, I am still in awe of how intense and powerful this story is. The three D’s are prominent: Death, dying and denial; three things that I believe to be the hardest things to face in life.
While our daughter enjoyed PLAYTIME we reveled in the drama, suspense and mystery that was The Lady From Dubuque which is playing in the beautiful Signature Theatre. This story is an intense and beautiful one all at the same time. Without spoiling it for those of you who have not seen it, I’ll describe what I thought of this play the best I can.
Death is something we all have to face at some point in life. Whether it is at a young age, middle age or old age – death will always be unfair. No one can really understand the pain or hurt someone goes through when having to say goodbye to a loved one. The battle that is fought is a great one and in the end we don’t always win. Nothing and no one can help you as you grow closer to having to let go and let destiny be. This story shows you how sometimes The Lady From Dubuque who isn’t really a lady or from Dubuque, gracefully walks in and smacks everyone in the face with reality.
This play peaks in through those walls of the three D’s, a dark story that leaves you looking at yourself and the ones around you a little deeper inside.
