So it has been a very challenging week for New York City. First the Tuesday earthquake in Virginia that sent frightening tremors all the way to the tri-state area. My family and I are all ok but shaken up to say the least.
The hurricane advisories were all over the news and it was quite overwhelming. I was able to get somewhat of a real estimation on how bad the damage was going to be. Since I live in a “safe zone” in Brooklyn I knew we would be alright. Websites like the OEM, 72 hours, and local news like News 12 prepared me with essential, life saving tools that made me feel a little bit better.
What scared me the most were the trees on my block. I was sure one of them would’ve benn ripped out since I’m surrounded by them (picture above – tree in front of my bedroom window). The stunning images of the damage The 2007 Beverly Road Tornado caused was pretty nerve wracking since I live nearby. Apparently, Irene’s rage wasn’t as damaging in my neighborhood.
Were you weirded much by this week’s craziness?
