I would be hit with a dose of reality.
The minute I submitted my application and the screen prompt read that my application was first going to go through a “verification process” I thought, Huh?! What!? OK. I got nervous. Maybe they’re just checking to make sure I’m not some weirdo trying to get a cheap vacay right? Or so I thought.
UPDATE: This morning I received an email from The Disney Social Events Management team and it read: “Due to overwhelming demand, The Social Media Moms Celebration was filled to capacity on Thursday, December 2 just two hours after registration opened! We thank everyone who patiently took part in the registration process and wish we could accommodate everyone who had the desire to attend this event.”
Guys, I got through before 3:00 P.M. One hour before registration was full. I even have an email confirmation to prove this. I am waiting for a response. Don’t hold your breath just yet!!! I’ll be updating tomorrow!
UPDATE 12/9/10: I spoke to Laura of DSMMoms yesterday morning and she apologized deeply for how bad they screwed up. They had no system. They were going through the registrations in batches. Nothing was done in order or as promoted “first come, first serve”. Basically, if you got in, you probably had one of the faster working people going through registrations and a lot of L.U.C.K.
How can an a company this large and powerful have such weak strategies when putting together such an epic conference as this?
The answer, no one knows. Will I wait for the 2012 conference? Not so sure.
Sincerely heart broken,
